"This much we know about reliever Blake Wood, who was called up from Class AAA Omaha on Wednesday to give the Royals’ unstable bullpen a boost – he is absolutely going to take the ball in some crucial situations.
“We don’t have time to baby him,” said Royals manager Trey Hillman, who indicated the 24-year old will be used as a setup man. “I don’t have time to put him protection mode out of the bullpen. We’ve got to see what this guy’s got.”
So what you're saying is that you're desperate, and you don't care about developing a player who might actually turn out to be good. You'd rather Josh Rupe the situation, throw a man into the fire and watch him get burned. Look, I understand that the Royals have no good setup men. I know this. But that doesn't mean you potentially RUIN a prospect. Trey Hillman is CLEARLY coaching for his job at this point. Until the Royals get Trey out of town, the season is not only lost, but our future is in jeopardy as well. (At least that part of the future that is in KC this year). As far as DM goes, I hope he is removed from his position sometime soon. I would love to keep him on as some sort of minor league special assistant, as he has at least turned things around, but when it comes to big league decisions, please, please... HIRE PAUL DEPODESTA!!I know that I've been AWOL for a long, long time, but I plan on getting this thing up and going again. The posts may be sporadic, but I'll definitely get a few in a week. As far as all the little things I was doing last year (daily minor league updates and hitter and pitcher of each MLB game..) well, that is going to go away, it was simply too much work, and I didn't see very much input from any of my readers on it anyway.
I'll have more news in a post on Friday, so keep your eyes peeled for that. As far as the Royals go, Zack Greinke takes the mound tomorrow afternoon in a 1:10 start, so if you CAN go.. DO go.
Thanks for reading.
Welcome back. I'm just damn shocked to hear you calling for Trey Hillman's ouster. Trey is a tremendous leader, somebody who is very consistent with who he is day in and day out. Trey is a tremendous asset to our...
